Sustainability

At Think Wellbeing, we believe that how we build and run our website should reflect the same values we bring to our work with people and organisations: care, clarity, and long-term thinking.

While digital spaces may feel invisible, they have a real-world footprint. The internet is estimated to contribute 2–4% of global carbon emissions — similar to the airline industry. That’s why we’ve made conscious choices to minimise the environmental impact of our site.

A Low-Impact Website

We’ve designed our site to be as lightweight and efficient as possible. This means:

  • Clean code with minimal JavaScript
  • Fast-loading pages that avoid unnecessary features
  • Optimised images for low file sizes without losing quality
  • Minimal tracking to reduce power usage and avoid invasive scripts

We use Astro, a modern web framework built with sustainability in mind. It delivers just the code needed for each page — and nothing more — helping reduce the energy required to load and browse the site.

Hosting Powered by Renewable Energy

We’re proud to say that our site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, a platform committed to running on renewable energy wherever possible. According to Website Carbon, our homepage:

  • Produces just 0.07g of CO₂ per visit
  • Is cleaner than 94% of web pages globally
  • Appears to be running on sustainable energy

Our WordPress content management system (used to manage articles, book recommendations, and more) is hosted by Krystal Hosting — one of the UK’s leading providers of green, ethical web hosting.

Ongoing Efforts

We know sustainability isn’t a one-off achievement — it’s a mindset. We’re continuing to:

  • Regularly audit our site for performance and efficiency
  • Avoid unnecessary page weight or tracking
  • Consider environmental impact when adding new features or tools

Why This Matters

Sustainability isn’t just about cutting carbon. It’s also about designing with care, avoiding waste, and choosing quality over quantity. That’s how we approach our work — and our web presence is no different.

We want Think Wellbeing to be part of a better digital future: one that’s accessible, respectful of people’s time and energy, and aligned with the values we promote every day.
